STORYMAKING WORKSHOP with DOCUMENTALLY
Friday 8 July at MK Gallery Project Space from 11am - 2pm
From pitching ideas and communicating our work, through to sharing our interests, storytelling is the vehicle we use. We are made of stories - whether we are using them to entertain, explain, educate or engage.
This FREE workshop is presented by IF: Milton Keynes International Festival and supported by The Open University.
It's a chance for you to update and sharpen your digital storymaking skills for professional use, to promote your passions or share stories from Milton Keynes International Festival!
Using your mobile phone or tablet device we will be using the latest tools and platforms for documenting and sharing, connecting and curating.
Among the skills practice are:
The workshop will be led by Christian Payne, aka @documentally, a mobile media maker specialising in Creative Technology.
Spaces are very limited and offered on a first come, first served basis, so BOOK A FREE PLACE HERE!
1. Before the workshop, please create an account with Storify.com (on your PC or laptop as it's not a phone app). The workshop will show you how to create, curate and share your own story and Storify is a great platform to do this on.
2. You may already have a range of apps on your phone or mobile device that are suitable for recording and sharing voice, film, photographs and location. If not, the ones we recommend are listed below. The links take you to the iPhone version - if using another device find the version for that - and do remember to bring your charged mobile device to the workshop!
Recommended (Free apps):
Once downloaded, please sign up and log-in to each app before the workshop.
Optional (Some paid for apps):
We'll be using the hashtag #IFMKstory throughout the session so please get started as soon as you want and keep us up-to-date with your prep and journey. Please use this hashtag in any online posts you wish to be seen and curated during this session.
Practicalities: We're very grateful to Milton Keynes Gallery for hosting this workshop. Refreshments will be provided, though by all means bring a sandwich/packed lunch to keep you going.
